In a small, vibrant community, a vision was born: to create a safe, nurturing environment where children could thrive, explore, and heal.

After months of dedication, Planning, and community support, and especially with support of UNICEF the Child-Friendly Space opened its doors in Haji Aziz Village Kandahar, where 141 Families of refugees came back from neighbor country Pakistan to their motherland country Afghanistan, Child-Friendly Space welcoming 70 Girls and 70 Boys. children in 2 separate CFS’s from diverse backgrounds to experience joy, play, and essential psychosocial services.

On opening day, the air buzzed with excitement. Brightly colored banners decorated the entrance and laughter echoed as children burst through the doors, eyes wide with wonder, inside a world of imagination awaited, plush toys hugged their corners, building blocks invited architectural masterpieces, and art supplies beckoned young Picassos to unleash their creativity, the space was alive, a kaleidoscope of activities where every child could find a piece of themselves.

Among the many children who frequented the space was Robina a shy 7 years old who often struggled to express her feelings, upon her first visit Robina lingered at the periphery, watching other kids play, but with encouragement from trained psychosocial staff, she gradually joined in, discovering the joy of cooperative games and storytelling circles, the staff employed playful techniques to foster emotional expression, helping Robina unlock the words she found difficult to share, Over the weeks Robina blossomed as she painted vibrant pictures of her dreams and played with new friends.

UNICEF support has been pivotal in making this dream a reality, from funding to training our team, their contribution has enabled us to create a nurturing environment that resonates with children with families alike.

This space is more than just a venue-it’s a promise to the community, it’s where children find joy, learn resilience, and envision a brighter future, we are proud to be part of this journey, and we are committed to expanding our reach, ensuring that every child gets the support they deserve.
